Feeding Key Points of Pekingese
Pekingese Dog (Detailed Introduction)

The Pekingese dog, also called Beijing dog, is often referred to as the lion dog due to its round big eyes, chubby small body, and adorable face which are beloved by many people. There are many aspects to pay attention to in raising a Pekingese dog, so how should it be correctly fed in daily life?
First, the Pekingese has very large eyes. In daily life, its eyes must be cleaned regularly. If the dog frequently squints, has watery eyes, or shows redness of the conjunctiva, it is best to have a detailed examination for the Pekingese. After cleaning the eyes, apply a few drops of anti-inflammatory eye drops to relieve eye symptoms, avoid worsening eye diseases, and prevent conditions such as dacryocystitis or other eye disorders.
Second, feeding the Pekingese requires attention and a reasonable feeding plan should be developed according to the dog's actual growth and development. For example, young Pekingese dogs should be fed small meals multiple times a day with nutritious and balanced food. When the Pekingese has just been weaned, the chosen puppy dog food should be softened with warm water and mixed evenly with puppy milk powder before feeding.
Once the Pekingese reaches adulthood, it should no longer be fed with the method used for puppies. Adult Pekingese should eat 1-2 meals per day and can be directly fed adult dog food. Additionally, canned dog food and dog biscuits can also be given in moderation. Of course, bones and dog food made according to recipes can also be used to feed the Pekingese.
Since the eyes and diet are important for the Pekingese, these aspects should be a focus during raising to avoid diseases caused by improper care.
The Pekingese is a small breed. After birth, it mainly obtains the nutrients needed for growth through nursing. However, the young Pekingese is very fragile, and if the owner is negligent, the puppy can easily become ill. So how should owners feed a young Pekingese? The best approach is to develop a reasonable feeding plan based on the Pekingese's needs. At this stage, the puppy has just been weaned, with fragile gastrointestinal function and incomplete teeth growth. Feeding should be done with special care regarding what and how to feed. Two to three-month-old Pekingese puppies have not completely developed teeth and have weak gastrointestinal functions, yet this period is critical for physical growth. Therefore, food prepared should be easy to digest and absorb. Hard foods should be avoided. If using puppy dog food, it should be soaked in warm water and mixed with puppy milk powder before feeding. For two to three-month-old puppies, feeding should follow the rule of small frequent meals. When just weaned, feeding should mimic the nursing schedule, such as feeding 5-6 times a day. As the dog matures, feeding frequency can be adjusted accordingly. When preparing food for two to three-month-old Pekingese puppies, it is best to purchase specialized puppy dog food and milk powder. Other foods like canned dog food, treats, bones, etc. should not be given yet. Wait until the Pekingese grows up, has a full set of teeth, strong gastrointestinal function, and a robust body before introducing these foods. When the dog is about five to six months old, provide gnawing sticks or large round bones for teething.
