Dogs Need a Good Sleeping Environment
Shar Pei (Detailed Introduction)

Adequate sleep is very important for dogs, and we know that dogs have irregular sleep patterns; they almost always choose a suitable place to sleep whenever they have time. Indeed, the amount of sleep dogs need is much more than ours, and without sufficient sleep, it will greatly affect their condition. Therefore, dogs need a good sleeping environment.

Dogs do not have fixed sleeping times; they sleep whenever they have the chance. Their more concentrated sleep times are usually around noon and around two or three o'clock in the early morning. The length of daily sleep varies, and older dogs and puppies sleep longer, while young and strong dogs sleep relatively less.

When dogs sleep, they always like to tuck their mouths under their two forelegs, because a dog's nose has the most sensitive sense of smell and needs to be well protected. At the same time, this also ensures that the nose stays alert to the surrounding situation to react at any time.

Dogs are generally in a light sleep state and can be startled by the slightest movement. They are not easily awakened by familiar people and their owners during sleep, but they remain very sensitive to unfamiliar sounds. However, they also have deep sleep periods. When awake, dogs are not easily startled; sometimes they utter dreams, such as light barking, whining, accompanied by limb twitching and slight shaking of the head and ears. During light sleep, dogs lie down with their heads lowered between their two front paws, often with one ear close to the ground. When in deep sleep, they often lie on their sides, fully stretched out, very comfortably.

If dogs do not get sufficient sleep, their work ability noticeably decreases, and mistakes increase. Similarly, lack of sleep can worsen a dog's mood. Sleep-deprived dogs tend to lie down whenever possible and are unwilling to stand, often yawn, have dull eyes, and scattered energy.

If a dog is frequently woken up from sleep, it often appears to be in a very bad mood and is very dissatisfied with being disturbed. A dog just awakened is groggy and sometimes cannot even recognize its owner. Therefore, it may sometimes vent its frustration on the owner by barking at you angrily or even biting the person who woke it up. Dogs are humans' best friends; humans need enough sleep, and dogs do too. Owners must provide dogs with a good sleeping environment.
