Is the Samoyed's Intelligence High
Samoyed Dog (detailed introduction)
When we talk about Samoyeds, what generally comes to mind is their pure white fur and their signature angelic smile. Indeed, most people choose Samoyeds because of their outstanding appearance. However, some people wonder if the Samoyed's intelligence is high. Many Samoyed owners find training their dogs quite difficult, so they often think that Samoyeds are not very intelligent. In fact, this is not true.
Although Samoyeds rank only 33rd in intelligence, this does not mean they are not smart. This so-called intelligence ranking is based solely on the ease of training dogs. Samoyeds rank lower because they tend to be very playful during training, and sometimes owners cannot call them back. So they are not unintelligent; they are just not easy to train.
Research shows that Samoyeds respond correctly to a command on the first try 90% of the time, which shows they are actually not dumb. Therefore, as long as the right training methods and timing are mastered, good results can be achieved with their training. Generally, 3 months old is the golden period for training puppies, so the necessary training should be carried out during this period. Training methods are equally important; when training a dog, our attitude must be clear: criticize firmly when needed and encourage promptly when rewarding. This way, the dog knows that only when it does things well will the owner give them a reward.
Although Samoyeds are not easy to train, this does not mean they lack intelligence. Owners should not think their dogs are stupid and give up early. Training dogs requires patience.
