Dog Care and Frequency

Skye Terrier (detailed introduction)
Taking care of dogs is essential and must be carefully attended to during the dog-raising process. However, there should be limits to everything, and the same goes for cleaning and grooming. Excessive grooming does not benefit dogs much, and sometimes too frequent care can negatively affect their health. Therefore, we will introduce the proper dog care and frequency. Regular grooming will make them healthier and more beautiful.
1. Bathing: Generally once every 7-10 days, depending on the breed; large dogs with longer coats can have longer intervals.
2. Vaccinations: Once a year; the four-in-one vaccine is given three times in the first year, then once annually; rabies vaccine is once a year.
3. Deworming: Once every three months; even if no signs of worms appear, it is best to do it.
4. Ear cleaning: For small breeds like the Teddy with long ear hair, once a week is fine; for others, clean their ears after bathing.
5. Anal gland cleaning: Once a month; do not perform 1 hour before or after meals, and avoid doing it when guests are about to arrive at home because the smell is unpleasant.
6. Brushing teeth: Once a week; twice a week for short-nosed dogs or those with breathing problems.
7. Feeding: Puppies should eat small meals multiple times a day, three to four times daily; after maturity, active dogs should eat smaller, more frequent meals, generally twice a day; less active dogs can have one meal a day but should eat at regular times and amounts.
Dog care and frequency must be accurate—not more is better, but timely and cyclical. With consistent routines, grooming will be easier; dogs will cooperate more, and their health will not be adversely affected by care issues.
