【Beauty Guide】Pomeranian Grooming Methods
Brush the coat well before trimming
As one of the early popular pets, Pomeranians are still loved by many people today. Moreover, the cute dog俊介 going viral online has inspired many owners to imitate this dog's style. However, some owners still prefer untrimmed Pomeranians, so ultimately, the choice of style depends on the owner.
1. Suitable pet: Pomeranian
2. Grooming tools
3. Procedure
1. Brush the coat: First, thoroughly brush the dog's coat and use a detangler for any knots.
2. Use electric clippers for trimming the limbs: Generally, the main area to clean on the limbs is the hair under the paws, which many owners tend to overlook. Use electric clippers to clean the paw pads, trimming carefully in multiple passes. Do not cut too deeply at once to avoid injuring the dog's skin.
Scissor trimming:
3. Trim the hindquarters: Lift the dog's tail and place it over the back to expose the hindquarters. Then trim oblique lines from the base of the tail to the ischium, shaping from the tail root to above the hock. The area behind the hock should be vertical to the table. Trim excess fur on the sides of the hind legs following the fur direction.
Pay extra attention when shaving the paw pads
4. Trim the forequarters and head: Hold the dog’s head gently upwards with one hand, then trim an oblique line down from the sternum. Comb the neck hair forward; comb the chest hair toward the nose; and comb the side neck hair toward the nose. Then trim around the head, shaping it into a rounded form from the top of the head to the sides.
5. Trim the abdomen: First, brush the abdominal hair downwards to create a fluffy texture, then trim a smooth arched line along the sides of the abdomen.
6. Trim the limbs: Brush the hair on the dog's feet upwards, then trim a flat surface along the sharp edges upwards. Next, tidy the stray hairs around the paw pads and trim a full curved shape from the tips of the toes upwards to form a “cat paw” shape.
7. Trim the tail: Start trimming about 1 cm below the anus, clean the hair around the anus on both sides, and trim 1-2 cm upwards from the anus. Hold the tail straight by hand and trim a straight line at the length you want to keep.
8. Trim the ears: Trim outward and inward from the ear tips, shaping the ear tips into a curved line.
4. Tips:
1. Try to brush the coat straight and smooth before trimming.
2. Be careful not to cut the skin when using electric clippers on the paw pads.
