When it comes to cats and dogs, many people immediately think of the classic cat-dog battle. For humans, when a loved one leaves, even for a short while, the waiting can be very agonizing. This also applies to animals. After just ten days apart, when the cat saw its dog friend, it wanted nothing more than to hold it tightly without letting go.

If a dog has lived with a cat since it was young, they become familiar with each other's habits. More importantly, they will not feel unfamiliar with one another, so their vigilance is much lower than that between a random cat and dog. Some say dogs are afraid of cats, but this view is unscientific. Biologically, dogs and cats are not in a predator-prey relationship; there is no hierarchy where one hunts the other. From this perspective, dogs don’t fear cats, nor cats fear dogs. Moreover, nowadays cats and dogs are often raised together as pets, sharing much daily life and gradually getting used to and treating each other well. However, it is worth noting that by nature, both animals desire to claim food and territory. To win food, territory, and their owner’s attention, conflicts may arise between cats and dogs, making the owner's mediation important.

At the same time, cats and dogs have different "languages" and behavior habits, making it difficult for them to communicate well, hence disputes may occur. Both are very smart; dogs have an advantage in size and strength, while cats have the advantage of speed and agility. Also, cats have very sharp claws that can easily scratch dogs. Facing such sharp claws naturally makes dogs fearful.

Actually, there are no two species in this world that are born to automatically see each other as enemies. Rather, the lack of communication and short interaction time make them wary of one another. Once one side behaves in a way perceived as provocative, a major conflict may erupt. This only shows that hostility arises from unfamiliarity. From earlier examples, we know that when dogs and cats live together from a young age, they can become great friends, forming deep bonds.
