After clarifying the situation, the owner should first reduce the amount of food given to the cat, preferably cutting the feeding amount in half. As long as it is not too severe, the kitten’s diarrhea will gradually improve. However, do not let the kitten fast; it should not be hungry for a long time. You can also feed the kitten some probiotics. One more small suggestion is that cat food should not be left in the food bowl for too long, as it’s easy to get contaminated with bacteria. It’s also best to keep water and food separate. If the diarrhea is caused by changing to new cat food, it is recommended to switch back to the original cat food.

Because some cats have sensitive stomachs, if the owner wants to change the cat’s diet for variety, it is recommended that the transition to new cat food be gradual, allowing the cat to slowly adapt by trying a little new cat food each day before gradually increasing it. If diarrhea is caused by food, you can take the cat to the hospital for a fecal examination to check for parasites. If parasites are found, give the cat some deworming medicine, and it will be fine in a few days.

If the cat has diarrhea but its spirit and appetite are good, it may be due to temperature changes. Observe if there has been a recent drop in temperature and pay attention to the cat's warmth. However, if the cat’s stool has a fishy smell, severe diarrhea, and bloody streaks appear in the stool, the situation is more serious. When this happens, the cat may have a fever and a poor mental state. The owner must immediately take the cat to the hospital for a checkup. This must be taken seriously, or you may lose your pet!
