　　Eyes

　　A cat's eyes are bright and spirited. Changes in the cat’s third eyelid are closely related to the illness. Under normal circumstances, the third eyelid is located at the inner corner of the cat’s eye and is usually not visible. When a kitten is sick, the third eyelid will protrude and cover part of the eyeball, sometimes even blocking half of the eyeball. The more the third eyelid protrudes, the more severe the illness is. Additionally, healthy cats have very clean eyes with little discharge. When ill, the eyes may show purulent or serous discharge. When observing a cat's eyes, also pay attention to whether both eyelids are symmetrical; if one side is swollen, it often indicates a local eye problem; if both sides are swollen simultaneously, it is usually caused by systemic diseases such as heart, kidney problems, or severe malnutrition.

　　Mouth

　　A cat’s normal mouth color is light pink. When a cat has a fever, the mouth color becomes flushed; in anemia, it appears pale; in liver disease, it turns jaundiced yellow; and in severe illness, it becomes purple. Moreover, attention should be paid to the cat's oral secretions, the surface of the tongue, gums, the mucous membranes of both cheeks, and the throat for any abnormalities such as blisters, ulcerations, or swelling.

　　Nose

　　A normal cat’s nose tip is cool and moist. If the nose tip is hot, dry, or even cracked, it is abnormal. Also, cats rarely have nasal discharge; increased nasal discharge can be a sign of some disease.

　　Ears
