“Tribal Lord” Type Cat Training
Exotic Shorthair Cat
Personality: “Tribal Lord” Type
The “Tribal Lord” type cat is domineering, proud, and highly jealous. It marks its territory by leaving its scent on objects or in areas to show this is its domain. Some pet owners who have had cats with this personality should know that they are quite difficult to manage. Overall, these cats are not easy to get along with, at least when interacting with other pets at home. They typically attempt to mark their territory by scratching or rubbing things, leaving their scent, and sometimes even by urinating to indicate ownership to other cats.
Training Tips:
1. Fight Domineeringness With Strength
When dealing with this senior type of cat, you cannot be too soft. Some owners, loving and cherishing their cats, hesitate to scold them; this only encourages their domineering behavior, making them more arrogant. If the owner doesn't stand up firmly to stop it, other pets may suffer bullying. If two pets of this type are together, a “big fight” might break out. When the cat behaves arrogantly, urinates randomly, or scratches things wildly, the owner must be firm and scold it, but not excessively, so the cat will behave and not get out of control.
2. Use Gentleness to Overcome Strength
If the cat urinates randomly, you must promptly clean with disinfectant to eliminate the scent. When the strong approach fails, you have to use gentleness. Try to show equal love to the pet, win its heart by giving some treats and the like.
Encountering a domineering personality cat can be troublesome for owners. However, by getting familiar with its character, understanding its likes, catering to its preferences, discovering its strengths and weaknesses, and putting in some care, training the cat properly should be no problem.
