Tips for training cats to freely go in and out

  1. Maintain a Steady Pace

When hiking, do not rush; try to keep a steady pace to avoid excessive energy consumption, making the descent easier. Avoid jogging down the mountain with your cat; walk step by step.

If possible, take a winding S-shaped route to prevent your cat's leg muscles from hurting due to steep descents. Control your speed and your cat’s speed to avoid danger. If hiking is inconvenient, you can switch to climbing stairs daily.

  2. Food Rewards

It’s best to scout the terrain before hiking to avoid overly rough paths or getting lost. For longer distances, carry water and food (remember food for both you and your cat), so you can reward your cat with treats, encouraging it to hike with you.

There are many things to consider when hiking with a pet cat, such as staying within safe areas. If you encounter cliffs or difficult paths, it’s best to use a leash to guide your cat. This can help overcome its fear and may even save its life in dangerous situations.

Of course, hiking benefits you too. Aside from strengthening perseverance, it improves your cardiopulmonary function and body coordination. Most importantly, hiking is a great way to lose weight! If your cat loves excitement and adventure, then take it hiking!
