Tips for Dealing with Cats Suddenly Urinating Everywhere
Canadian Hairless Cat
First, you need to determine whether the cat’s urination in bed is because it is in heat. Cats in heat like to urinate everywhere to mark their territory. Cats are seasonally polyestrous animals, with each heat lasting about 3-10 days. During the breeding season, they come into heat every one to two weeks, mostly concentrated in March-April and June-July.
The editor once saw an online summary: if it is a male cat, they will go into heat repeatedly, generally once a week, each lasting seven to ten days. Males in heat will roll around on the floor, twist their bodies, and emit low howling sounds. They will urinate all over the house to attract female cats. Note that males in heat will hold their tails high while urinating and rapidly twitch them.
Female cats in heat generally go into heat once every two weeks, lasting about a week each time. Similarly, females will urinate everywhere to attract males by scent. Also, females in heat will “call for a mate,” loudly and continuously both day and night. Note, when you gently touch the base of a female cat’s tail, she will instinctively raise her rear. If this happens, quickly take your cat for neutering; it’s the best solution for both of you. If the cat is not in heat or has been neutered and still urinates everywhere, prepare for a long-term battle! Fighting with cats is a lengthy process.
You should first prepare a dedicated litter box for your cat and train it from a young age to develop good elimination habits. From an early age, keep your pet cat off the bed and prevent the habit of going on beds, especially urinating there. As soon as you find the cat wanting to get on the bed, stop it immediately. You can loudly scold it or directly take it down. If the cat keeps trying, using a water spray bottle is also an option. After the cat gets off the bed, be sure to severely warn and criticize it. Let it understand the consequences of urinating on the bed. Correcting the habit of urinating on the bed requires persistent training. We know it’s not easy to cultivate a habit in cats, and it’s even harder to correct a bad habit and replace it with a good one. Therefore, as an owner, you must persist, or all efforts will be in vain.
