Three Tricks to Correct Bad Behaviors of Pet Cats

1. Stop Aggressive Behavior
Cats usually do not attack humans. If a cat suddenly claws or bites you, it may feel uncomfortable or your actions might have been too rough, hurting it. Cats kept alone at home without enough toys or attention can become restless and may show aggressive behavior.
Strategy: Spend time playing with the cat frequently; if conditions do not allow, find it a companion and prepare several toys. Do not leave it alone at home for too long. When petting, use gentle movements; avoid hurting it. When bathing, try not to get shampoo or water in its eyes.
2. Break the Roaming Habit
Generally, roaming cats are unneutered males or cats that are not well cared for. If a cat’s appetite is neglected, it may leave home to find new food sources. Roaming outdoors poses safety risks and it might also bring back bacteria.
Strategy: Call the cat to eat regularly and keep it indoors for short periods. Feed the cat on a schedule to prevent it from wandering around. It’s best to have the cat neutered.
3. Stimulate Sense of Smell with Unpleasant Odors
Cats may become enemies of indoor plants. They might chew leaves and flowers, dig up the soil, or use the flowerpots as toilets.
Strategy: Prepare a pot of grass for the cat or spray diluted lemon juice on indoor plants because cats dislike lemon juice. To prevent cats from digging up plants, cover the soil with a shallow net.
