The Differences Between Native Cats and Pet Cats Are Actually Minor
First, let's explain the meaning of native cats and pet cats. Native cats refer to the cat breeds within China, while pet cats refer to cats from abroad. However, I personally think native cats are easier to raise. Their survival ability is much stronger than pet cats, and they adapt faster. Native cats are physically stronger and less likely to get sick. Pet cats, on the contrary, are a bit delicate and prone to illness. But pet cats have the advantage of generally having a gentler temperament, whereas native cats tend to be a bit irritable.
Because pet cats are foreign breeds, they are considered beautiful from our aesthetic perspective, but their prices are relatively expensive. For example, a purebred French Shorthair cat costs about 3000 yuan. This 3000 may not be much for wealthy people, but for ordinary office workers, buying one requires serious consideration. It might equal a month’s salary. Also, considering the daily care, hospital checkups, and diet for pet cats, all need special attention. Pet cats are more delicate and may get sick easily, and a hospital visit can be quite costly.
Native cats are different. Stray cats, for example, often go hungry and get rained on outside, which gradually strengthens their immunity. They may not be as noble as foreign breeds, but compared to pet cats, they are easier to raise and don’t require too much concern about their daily needs or frequent care for illnesses. However, native cats are not easily tamed. Their temperament is unstable and they are prone to scratch people. Pet cats are easier to tame and are inherently gentle. Actually, if native cats are seriously trained, they can also become very obedient.
In fact, the differences between native cats and pet cats are not that big. It basically comes down to the environments they started from, and what kind of environment directly shapes what they become.
