We are more familiar with dogs getting rabies, but many people do not know that cats can also get rabies. Therefore, we must pay attention to the health of cats. Once a cat falls ill, its owner will be very anxious. Don’t let your cat become sickly; we need to care for it more. So, what are the symptoms if a cat contracts rabies?

In the early stage of rabies in cats, there will be these symptoms: the cat’s behavior will become different from usual; it will show some strange behavior, often feel fatigued, or the cat’s spirit may become more excitable. The cat may also suddenly lose its temper or stop following its previous daily routine. During the middle stage, the cat will show a tendency to wander around, exhibit some unconscious behavioral movements, and appear indifferent to its owner. The cat’s facial muscles may develop slight twitching.

In the final stage, the cat becomes afraid of water and sunlight. The cat’s entire body muscles will show some spasms and twitching. Many cats with rabies during this period will exhibit a liking to attack other animals, and their own aggressiveness will increase. In the dying stage, the cat will develop difficulty breathing, foam at the mouth, and many organs will fail, ultimately leading to death. Therefore, we must protect our cats and prevent them from contracting rabies. The main sources of rabies infection are actually already infected animals and those carrying the rabies virus. We should try to do preventive work and reduce the cat’s outdoor activities during rabies outbreaks.

Do not let the cat be bitten by other animals. If you find bite wounds on the cat, take it to the vet immediately. During kittenhood, we also need to prepare rabies vaccinations for the cat and continue to vaccinate once a year thereafter. This method is indeed very effective in helping prevent rabies in cats. After being bitten by a cat, do not immediately bandage the wound. First, squeeze out the blood from the wound, then wash the wound with soapy water.
