Symptoms of Cat Ringworm and Its Treatment Methods
First, please do not give up on your kitty because of this!
Please remember the joy he has brought you, and do not abandon him when he needs help the most.
Cat ringworm is common in malnourished and weak cats. Increasing nutrition intake, especially B vitamins, helps prevent the disease and aids recovery in infected cats.
There are two fungi infecting cats, namely Microsporum canis and Trichophyton mentagrophytes; 98% are Microsporum canis. As the disease evolves, it becomes an irritating dry round patch (ringworm).
Generally, Griseofulvin can be given orally at 50 mg per kilogram of body weight, 2-3 times daily in divided doses, for at least 3 to 4 weeks. Other treatments include topical Clotrimazole ointment, compound benzoic acid ointment, sulfur ointment, 2% Miconazole nitrate hydrophilic ointment, and Antifungal cream applied to affected areas. During treatment, 4 ml of vegetable oil can be added daily to the cat's food to promote absorption of oral drugs; local corticosteroids can also be used.
Since cat ringworm can be transmitted to humans, please pay attention to disinfection. The owner should take multivitamins orally as prevention.
