    Cats’ first mating involves ten major matters, and it is necessary to consider whether the combination of both cats will affect the offspring. Only healthy cats can produce healthy babies. There are also several precautions during cat mating:

　　1. Selection of the partner: Generally speaking, purebred cat mating must choose purebred cats of the same breed to ensure the offspring have a pure lineage. Cats with large size differences are not recommended to mate as it may lead to difficult labor.

　　2. Preparations before mating: Ensure the male cat has good nutrition to produce high-quality semen, so the kittens will be healthy. The female cat should have her nails trimmed to avoid scratching the male cat.

　　3. Choice of mating location: A quiet and disturbance-free place should be selected.

　　4. Owner’s assistance: Inexperienced female cats may resist the male cat mounting; at this time, the owner needs to help by holding the female cat, pressing her forelimbs and neck to prevent her from turning back to bite or scratch the male cat, assisting the male cat to mate.

　　5. How to determine success: The male cat will accurately bite the female cat’s neck and lie on her body to mate, generally taking 1~10 minutes to complete mating. The female cat will emit loud cries after mating and attack the male cat by turning back. After the male cat leaves, the female cat will keep rolling and licking the genital area.

　　6. Mating of different breeds: When breeding purebred cats, besides breeding within the same breed, some crossbreeding among purebred cats is allowed, and their offspring are also recognized by authoritative cat associations.
