Methods to Train Cats to Jump Through Hoops

Raising cats requires attention to cultivating correct habits and behaviors. For example, cat owners who love cats often let them sleep together, which may cause diseases such as toxoplasmosis and fungal infections to transmit to humans. Also, cats are timid and like to climb high because they consider high places safe. Places like display cabinets and dining tables are areas cats are not welcome. Valuable items may get broken once cats visit, and cats tasting food first is not the owner's wish. However, climbing is a normal habit of cats. Training and discipline can prevent cats from going to forbidden places. This shows that even as pets, basic training for cats is necessary so they quickly integrate into the family and do not become a burden.
Jumping and hoop training requires an iron or plastic ring fixed in one place. First, the owner uses hand gestures indicating "jump" or "pass through" together with verbal commands, then assists the cat to jump or pass through the hoop; the owner can also immediately encourage the cat when it jumps or passes through the hoop on its own occasionally. If the cat refuses to take the initiative, prompts and warnings should be given, assisting the cat with hands to complete the action so the cat understands the meaning of commands and gestures.
Once the cat can complete jumping and passing through the hoop actions, gradually raise the height of the hoop. Generally, adult cats can easily jump over obstacles 50cm high and pass through hoops agilely, with elegant posture admired by all.
