Ragdoll Cat Training Is Indispensable
Ragdoll Cat
Although Ragdoll cats are famous for their good temper and gentleness, as domestic cats, basic training is still very necessary. If you want your Ragdoll cat to be a bit different, training is absolutely indispensable. So, how should you train your Ragdoll cat? Is it easy to train a Ragdoll cat?
1. How to train a Ragdoll cat to sit
Getting a dog to obey commands and sit down consciously is quite easy, but to make a cat obey the "sit" command requires some effort. During training, the owner can squat down and place their hand on the Ragdoll cat's back near its hind legs and say "sit." If the Ragdoll cat sits, immediately praise it kindly and stroke it, but do not reward it with food right away.
After a short wait, command the Ragdoll cat to "stand up" and release your hand, while rewarding it with some of its favorite treats. Repeat this exercise, gradually increasing the time your hand stays on its back to extend the sitting time. After a period, you can conduct training without placing your hand on the cat's back. If the Ragdoll cat stands up halfway through, immediately bring it back to the original spot, press it to sit, firmly say "sit," then repeat the previous training.
After about one to two weeks of training, most Ragdoll cats will begin to obey commands. At this point, you can switch from the "sit" command to the "stand up" command when the Ragdoll cat is sitting, helping the cat gradually distinguish between "sit" and "stand up" commands. Then, you can start training other commands.
