Must-Know for Cat Owners: A List of Ten Ways Cats Show Affection

Although cats are naturally proud, this does not mean they do not need care. Sometimes lonely cats will actively show affection to their owners seeking hugs. Owners need to understand cats’ affectionate body language and connect with them spiritually. When you see cats exhibiting the following ten behaviors, it’s time for the owner to give them some warm love.
1. The most common way to show fondness is to wrap their tail around you, rub their head or body against your leg, or rub their ears or face on you. This is to leave a familiar scent on you, making them feel more comfortable, and possibly to treat you as their subordinate.
2. Licking you, just like they lick other cats, shows trust and affection.
3. After being petted, they will lick themselves to "taste" your scent. This scent is something we cannot detect but cats can perceive.
4. When a cat lies on your lap, it definitely likes you. It won’t jump onto the lap of someone it dislikes.
5. Bringing you "gifts," such as dead mice. Don’t be afraid or scold it. This shows it likes you and thinks of you as its mother.
6. A cat’s tail held straight up signals very strong affection. You will notice the tail droops when the cat approaches strangers or unknown cats.
7. Rolling its body means "play with me." Cats will not play with people they dislike.
8. Placing its paws on your arm “reaffirms” its fondness for you.
9. When it slowly arches its back and rubs against your leg, it is saying: "I love you!"
10. Cats purring have many meanings, but if it purrs while rubbing against you, it means it truly loves you.
