How to Train Abyssinian Cats to Use the Toilet

Cats love cleanliness and can be easily trained to urinate and defecate in a litter box. However, the litter box needs frequent cleaning, the litter requires regular replacement, and cat feces produce especially unpleasant odors. Therefore, cats should be trained to urinate and defecate on the flush toilet.

Place a plastic board or wooden board under the toilet seat ring, and cover the board with an appropriate amount of sand, ashes, sawdust, or other litter. When you notice signs that the cat needs to defecate, bring the cat to the flush toilet side. The cat will easily discover this litter-equipped toilet and urinate or defecate on it. Once the cat gradually forms the habit of urinating and defecating on the litter-covered flush toilet, reduce the amount of litter by half. The cat will quickly learn to urinate and defecate on the toilet seat ring. At this time, the plastic or wooden board can be removed, and the cat will have developed the habit of relieving itself on the flush toilet. During training, pay special attention not to disturb or interfere with the cat when it is using the flush toilet. Some cats might accidentally slip and fall into the flush toilet, which may cause them to refuse to use it again. In this case, training must start over until the cat learns to use the toilet again.
