Cats are clingy yet proud creatures. When people think of cats, they associate them with their elegant gait, upward-curved tails, and agile paws. Unlike dogs, which are generally playful all day long, cats appear more calm and wise in comparison. Some say cats have very high intelligence, like spirits lurking in the night, perceiving everything in their surroundings. People are also very interested in the lifespan of cats. How long will such a special creature live? What does a one-year-old cat look like?

Under normal circumstances, a cat’s lifespan is usually maintained between ten to fifteen years. Depending on different environments and the individual condition, their lifespan may lengthen or shorten, which is quite normal.

How should a cat’s lifespan be calculated? Simply put, the calculation of a cat’s age differs from that of humans. One month of a cat’s growth is equivalent to three to four human years. A three-month-old cat corresponds to six years old in humans, and a one-year-old cat is about fifteen years old. At one year, the cat is basically an adult. If a cat lives for ten years, its age can reach fifty-five to fifty-six years, which is approaching old age. Therefore, the longer a cat is raised, the more care it needs.

How to extend a cat’s lifespan:

Healthy diet plays a very good protective role for a cat’s stomach and intestines. Cats have very fragile digestive systems and have higher requirements for their food; they don’t like all kinds of food. When raising them, attention must be paid to the cat’s tastes and preferences to match the diet accordingly.

Proper exercise can strengthen a cat’s body, promote its physical development and better absorption of nutrients. Since cats do not require excessive exercise to burn energy, the amount of exercise should also be controlled.

Neutering is not a bad thing for cats because their emotions are very sensitive during the estrus period. Male cats tend to fight, and female cats constantly meow to attract mates. Neutering ensures the cat’s health and reduces the risk of disease.

There are many ways to extend a cat’s lifespan, but the most indispensable factor is everyone’s care.
