How Many Times a Day Should Cats Be Fed? Four Feeding Precautions
Nowadays, clingy cats have become one of the most beloved pets for many people. Many friends have become little cat slaves to their adorable cats, loving to give all the tasty food to their cats. Because of this behavior, many domestic cats nowadays have become chubby and round. Although chubby cats feel very nice to the touch, considering the cats' own health, owners must reasonably control their cats' food intake and moderate exercise.
There are many considerations when feeding cats. The feeding time and frequency should be controlled within a reasonable range. So, how many times a day is appropriate to feed a cat?
1. Healthy cats have demands for food, and feeding times should not be too many. Cats do not have a very obvious sense of fullness. If the owner does not control their feeding amount, it is very likely to cultivate a bad habit. Even if the cat's food bowl is not finished, the cat may run to the owner's feet to ask for food, or continuously eat, which can lead to gastritis. Therefore, the feeding amount should be about two to three times a day, with three times being optimal.
2. Feeding times should also be noted. Do not feed cats randomly every hour. Instead, feed every 3-4 hours to ensure that the cat has digested most of the food before eating again, further reducing the burden on the cat's stomach.
3. Some cat foods rich in nutrients are more suitable for raising cats. When selecting cat food, observe its nutritional content carefully and match it according to the cat’s own condition. For example, to make the fur soft and shiny, one can use foods low in salt and containing vitamin E, which have a better effect on the cat's growth.
4. When adjusting the cat's amount of food, also consider its age. Kittens do not have very large food requirements since their food needs and portions are not big. For very young kittens, you can feed some diluted goat milk powder about 4-5 times a day.
When discussing how to match specific food quantities, it also depends on the actual situation. Friends can always observe how much their own cats eat in one meal and then allocate accordingly, as every cat’s situation is different.
