Four Steps to Easily Teach Cats to Use Cat Litter

Step one, you need to prepare a fixed cat litter box and place it in a fixed location at home. The litter box can be homemade or purchased from the market, then simply spread a layer of cat litter inside the box.
Step two, in daily life, the caretaker should let the cat become familiar with this litter box first. You can start by catching the cat and placing it into the litter box, then gently pat its head and bottom, telling it this is where it will go to the bathroom in the future. Although the cat initially doesn’t understand what you mean, through training and understanding it will gradually comprehend.
Step three, grasp the cat’s timing and regularity for urination and defecation. Before the cat develops good habits, closely observe its behavior. When you notice signs of the cat needing to eliminate, promptly guide or catch the cat and place it into the fixed litter box to do its business.
Step four, the litter box should be cleaned promptly when dirty, but also retain some of the cat’s waste odor and urine scent in the box. This can attract the cat to go there again and is more conducive to cultivating the habit of using the fixed litter box for elimination.
Training a cat to urinate and defecate in the litter box takes time. It may take one week, two weeks, or even longer. The most important requirement during training is for the caretaker to have enough patience and determination. Only with this can the training of pet cats to use the litter box be successful.
