Basic Training for Cats in Daily Life
Chinchilla Cat
1. Let the get used to the cage
1. Keep the door of the cage open and place it in a quiet corner, lining it with an unwashed T-shirt or shirt of the owner. Your scent is the best comfort medicine for the cat.
2. Attract the cat’s attention to this new thing by placing some of its favorite food in front of the cage, then let nature take its course. Don’t worry, whether curious or cautious, cats are happy to explore new things.
3. After the cat can comfortably eat in front of the cage, gradually move the food inside. If the cat enters the cage, the owner should not disturb it or suddenly close the door. A timid cat that feels tricked once will never enter the cage again. This training should be guided by the cat’s feelings, allowing free access. Rushing will undermine the cat’s newly built confidence.
2. Let the use the designated door to come and go
After cats adapt to a new environment for some time, they begin to roam around, seeking things that satisfy their curiosity. Naturally, they will want to go outside more often. It is important to make them use the designated door rather than climbing through windows randomly.
1. Keep the door fixed open for the cat to explore.
If you put some food on the other side of the door, it may lure the cat to cross through, but be sure to secure the door so it won’t fall down and frighten the cat.
2. Once the cat passes through the door, lower the flap and use some tasty treats to encourage the cat to return through the door again. This time, help it push open the door.
