In the past, small animals were mostly seen in more remote places, but now you can see their traces almost everywhere on the streets and alleys. Previously, they were mostly used for catching mice and guarding homes, but now their lives are getting better and better, and their status is rising as well. Many pet owners almost spoil them to the sky. It must be said that the variety of cats is getting more and more beautiful nowadays. Many people are afraid of their pet cats getting sick or catching a cold, so how can you tell if a cat has a cold?

The first time I knew about cats was when someone told me that a cat's meow sounds very much like a baby crying. Actually, cats really are like little babies. When they catch a cold, they also have a runny nose. Because of the cold, their noses are not very clear, so the breathing sound when they sleep will be a bit strange. So if your cat’s breathing sounds different than usual when sleeping, it’s time to give it some rest. You can first check whether there is mucus in its nose. If there is, that means the cat has a cold.

A cat with a cold will also have some watery eyes because the tear gland and the nasolacrimal duct are connected, so when the nose isn’t clear, tears will come out. Also, cats do sneeze. Sneezing is usually because the nose feels uncomfortable and the nasal mucosa is irritated. Seeing this, don’t you think cats are just like little kids? If it’s more serious, the cat might even cough or shiver. Therefore, we must pay more attention to our cats, notice any abnormalities early, and then treat them as soon as possible so your furry master won’t suffer for too long.

Actually, the symptoms of a cat’s cold are very similar to ours, so if you watch closely, it’s easy to tell. Also, cats need medicine for a cold, the kind of cold medicine humans take, just in different doses. Generally, they only need a quarter of the human dose. It’s best to dissolve the tablets in warm water and then feed it to the cat with a syringe. Because nobody likes to take medicine, and cats definitely don’t either. So when giving medicine, remember to have someone hold the cat first, then pinch its mouth and inject the medicine directly. When bathing your cat normally, also pay attention to keeping it warm, exercise more, and keep its diet healthy. This way, the cat won’t catch colds so often.
