Why Huskies Look Like Wolves
Husky (detailed introduction)
In our impression, Huskies give the feeling of being "silly" or "goofy"; this is because various humorous memes on the internet are expressed by Huskies. Therefore, it seems difficult for us to associate the richly expressive and goofy Husky with wolves, but we cannot deny that the appearance of Huskies is indeed very similar to wolves. So what kind of connection do Huskies have with wolves, why do Huskies look like wolves, and do they have a blood relationship?
The scientific name of the Husky is Siberian Husky. According to historical records, its ancestors date back to before the Neolithic Age. Although all domestic dogs have intricate blood ties with wolves, the dog species genetically closest to the Arctic wolf is the Husky.
In the early days, the Chukchi people trained this group of dogs that followed them to pull sleds and guard livestock because they were cold-resistant, had low food consumption, and worked very diligently. Therefore, they were considered quite an important asset in the tribe at that time. This group of dogs, early called the Siberian Chukchi dog, were the ancestors of the later Husky. Huskies look like wolves because their ancestors interbred with wolves, and the power of genes made Huskies' appearance resemble wolves, which remains true even today.
It can be seen that Huskies look like wolves because they truly contain wolf genes in their bodies, but through continuous evolution, Huskies have lost the wolves’ coldness and wildness. They have become closer to humans and more lively and gentle.
