Actually, as a qualified dog owner, you must never give up training your dog just because it is old, because "live and learn" also applies to dogs. As long as we master the correct training methods and gestures, we can train obedient dogs. Here, the editor has prepared some training methods for everyone, let's take a look together.

1. Training Method — Mechanical Stimulation Method

In simple terms, this means solving problems with force. When training dogs, if the dog does not listen and does not cooperate, we can hit it a few times with a stick to make it feel pain and force it to cooperate with training. Although this training method is quite effective, the editor does not recommend using it because it causes dogs to fear us and unwilling to interact with us. Although under the oppression of the stick, the dog will obey our commands, it will also develop a resistance to the training tasks. Everyone must be cautious when using this method in daily life.

2. Training Method — Reward Method

During training, when the dog successfully completes an action or behaves well, we should appropriately give it some encouragement, such as gently stroking its head, giving it some tasty treats, or letting it play with toys for a while. This lets the dog know that if it trains well, it can get what it wants, which makes training more effective.

3. Training Method — Imitation Training

This method is often used to train hunting dogs. We train untrained puppies together with trained adult hunting dogs. The adult dogs’ actions are standard, and the puppies imitate the adult dogs during training.

4. Training Method — Gestures

Training dogs cannot rely solely on voice commands; some hand gestures are also necessary. Some books record common hand gestures used when training dogs, but the editor believes there are no fixed gestures. Each gesture during training will leave an impression on the dog’s mind, forming a conditioned reflex. Therefore, the editor thinks those gestures in books can be referenced but should not be copied exactly. Combining gestures with voice commands helps dogs be trained quickly.

In daily life, we often unknowingly use certain gestures to train dogs, but we just don’t pay intentional attention. Having said so much, I believe everyone has already grasped the methods of dog training.
