Training Methods for Pit Bulls, These Common Knowledges Must Be Remembered
Pit bulls are a relatively intelligent and fierce type of medium-sized dog. Because they have American Bulldog blood flowing through their veins, they are always extremely excited in fighting and provoking. They can be both cute dogs that act adorable to seek affection and good dogs for guarding the home and faithfully protecting their owners. However, a smart and obedient good dog is not born naturally; it requires owners to apply training efforts.
The first exercise is endurance training for the dog to restrain overly restless behavior. This also prevents owners from worrying and being afraid that their dogs will cause trouble when walking them. Generally, pit bulls can start treadmill slow jogging practice when they are three months old, which is very effective for endurance training. At the beginning, start with five minutes daily, then increase by 15 to 30 seconds daily. When the dog can run for twenty minutes, increase by 45 seconds to one minute daily. Continue practicing until it can run for an hour, then reduce slow jogging time and keep their exercise time locked at about twenty minutes. There are many ways to practice endurance, such as weighted exercises like pulling tires. However, owners must always pay attention to the tire’s weight, ideally about two-thirds of the dog's body weight, so the dog will not develop resistance.
The second and most important exercise for pit bulls is muscle strength training. This usually starts when the dog is one year old because their bones are nearly fully developed. Owners can use jumping exercises to train the coordination between their front and hind legs and the muscle strength of their hind legs. During jumping practice, it can also help overcome the inconvenience caused by their own body weight and avoid insufficient exertion. Food can be used as an inducement above the dog during training to increase the dog's compliance. Exercises like dragging weights and weighted running not only train endurance but also mobilize the dog's whole body muscles, shaping a slim and strong physique and perfect muscle strength. These are excellent training methods.
Because of their aggressive nature, endurance and muscle training are very important for pit bulls as family dogs. Endurance training helps them be more rational and less easily provoked, while muscle training enables them to exert their full power during fights.
