Silky Terrier Breed Introduction
Silky Terrier (detailed introduction)
The Silky Terrier is a dog breed developed entirely by humans. Its name comes from the Silky Han estate of John Edwards in the town of Haverfordwest, Wales. This dog first appeared at a dog show held locally in Wales in 1903, and it gradually became known to more people.
Between 1850 and 1891, John Edwards bred this breed from an unknown lineage. It is known for its bravery in hunting badgers, otters, and foxes. As the working ability of the Silky Terrier drew public interest, they gradually began to replace other terriers in prominent families and dog shows. Although there is no exact record, it can be inferred that this dog is a crossbreed of Bull Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Dachshund-type short-legged long-bodied terrier, and Corgi.
Gradually, the Silky Terrier became known to more people, and by 1911, it was recognized by the American and British Kennel Clubs.
