Tips for Taking Photos of Pets
Pets
To take beautiful photos of your pets, the key is to capture their personality. When you notice these cute little animals doing some unusual or very interesting actions, you can take candid shots at any time. For example, the adorable look of a kitten or puppy lazily napping on their favorite mat is more touching than the poses they are forced to make. When shooting close-up photos, don’t forget to use a close-range lens because if your lens is too close to the pet, they definitely won’t pose like models or big stars waiting for you to take pictures.
1. Taking photos of pets with dark fur is more difficult, so when photographing them, you must pay attention to make the background appear brighter. Also, photographing pets is like shooting other objects, so pay attention to the position of shadows and avoid "red eye" when using a flash. Shooting in bright places may not require flash; if flash is necessary, do not let the pet’s eyes look directly at the lens to avoid the "red eye" effect.
2. When taking "group photos" of several puppies or kittens, it’s best to place them in a basket so they can snuggle close together, which makes it easier to adjust the shooting distance. If you want the pets’ eyes to face the camera, gently call their names or use a sounding toy to attract their attention. To capture ideal photos, you not only need enough film but also ample patience, because all professional animal photos you admire were taken after photographers spent a lot of effort and time.
3. When photographing children playing with pets, ensure both the people and animals are at the same level. If your pet is large, you can have it lie next to the child to achieve an ideal composition.
