In spring, when all trees revive, cats and dogs also enter an active mating period. Diseases caused by seasonal changes may affect their health. Owners need to carefully care for their pets, prevent disease, and avoid accidents such as pets running away, fighting, or injuring others due to mating behaviors.

1.Deworming Is an Urgent Task

The weather warms up in spring, and fleas and dust mites become active. Your urgent task is to clean and deworm your pet. Pets may get infected with internal or external parasites.

You need to take your pet to the animal hospital for deworming injections or give them deworming medicine to remove internal parasites and avoid disease. External parasites include fleas, mites, ticks, and lice, mostly caused by contact with the outside environment. Once your pet has fleas, it is difficult to eradicate them completely. Therefore, before these parasites become active, thoroughly clean and disinfect your pet’s bedding and surrounding area, and keep it hygienic.

2.Infection Symptoms

Itching caused by fleas usually occurs on the pet’s back and tail.

Once you find your dog frequently scratching, rubbing, licking, or biting the itchy area causing hair loss, redness, and eczema symptoms, or your cat has many coal-like black spots at the hair roots, you must take them to the vet promptly for diagnosis and early treatment.

3.Daily Protection

Usually, owners must prepare various cleaning supplies, such as long-acting medications or shampoos to prevent external parasites, and frequently clean their pets. Not only should the pet be thoroughly cleaned, but also its activity and resting areas should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

At the turn of spring and summer, some pets allergic to pollen and grass seeds may show skin allergy symptoms. Pets often scratch constantly or rub their belly against the floor or furniture due to unbearable itching. When you notice such symptoms, you must immediately take your pet to the vet because prolonged scratching can cause skin infections. Treatment may include allergy injections or oral allergy medicines. Although allergy injections can relieve these discomforts, if allergies occur frequently, a thorough examination should be conducted to identify allergens and avoid contact with substances that cause allergies.

When we change out of winter clothes into spring outfits, pets also shed their coats. Their fur changes from the warm winter fur to the cooler summer fur better for heat dissipation. Generally, the shedding process takes several weeks. During this time, owners must comb or brush daily to remove loose hair and promote blood circulation in the pet’s skin, helping the shedding process go smoothly.
