Reasons Why Dogs Don’t Like to Move
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Detailed Introduction)
Except for some dogs that are naturally quiet by personality, generally dogs are quite lively. Even dogs that are not very active will move around a bit. If we see dogs lying there without moving for a long time, we need to pay attention. So let’s first understand what the reasons are for dogs not liking to move.
Psychological problems usually belong to situations such as being frightened, separation, loneliness, etc., causing the dog to lose trust in the owner. When this happens, the owner should seriously consider why the dog does not like to move, understand where the psychological shadow is coming from, then carefully take care of the dog and help it come out of that shadow. Some dogs are naturally not very active breeds; in this case, spending more time playing with the dog when it is alone can change this behavior.
Physiological issues generally mean that the dog feels unwell, so its physiological functions decline and its spirit is poor. This causes the dog not to like to move. For example, colds, canine distemper, diarrhea, etc. can cause the dog to be lethargic. When judging this, you can measure the dog’s temperature; a normal dog’s temperature should be between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is out of range, it may have a fever. If severe, fever and lethargy could also be signs of canine distemper. Dogs may also feel lethargic and less active when the weather is too hot.
During the dog’s estrus period, if it is confined indoors for a long time without seeing the opposite sex, the dog may also exhibit inactivity. In this case, the owner can consider finding it a male (or female) companion.
Therefore, psychological and physiological issues can both cause dogs not to like moving. If such situations are found, we should first analyze the cause. Of course, the first thing to consider is whether the dog is sick. The best way is to take the dog to a pet hospital for examination. If there is no problem, then consider whether it is a psychological issue.
