Pekingese Dogs Are Disobedient and Should Not Be Punished Physically
Pekingese dog
Pekingese dogs rank low on dog intelligence charts, which also means their obedience is not high. To make a Pekingese dog listen, the owner needs to continuously train patiently and must never use violent physical punishment or similar treatment.
Using physical punishment to force obedience from a Pekingese dog is completely unacceptable. Like any animal, Pekingese dogs have a strong sense of alertness toward people. From the Pekingese’s perspective, being beaten or kicked without reason only creates an impression of "being abused." If the owner is very dominant, the Pekingese might obey out of fear. However, Pekingese dogs raised in such an environment develop extreme insecurity and may sometimes attack weaker children or elderly people, even causing dangerous biting incidents. Therefore, when a Pekingese dog does not obey commands, loudly giving commands while spraying water at its face with a water gun will generally calm most Pekingese dogs down.
Pekingese dogs are not animals that will immediately remember and comply with commands after one or two lessons. They need gradual memory formation through continuous training. Therefore, owners are required to be patient and keep training them continuously. (Source: PetsZone)
