　　Morphological Characteristics
　　The Pharaoh Hound has a noble lineage, distinct contours, and beautiful lines. Movements are very steady, quick, stretched, and effortless, with an alert expression. The ears are medium-sized, flexible, standing erect when alert. The neck is elegant, long and slender, muscular, and slightly curved. The eyes are oval-shaped, very close together, essential for excellent binocular vision important for a visual hunting dog. The shoulder and back lines are very smooth, limbs are strong, tail soft, with denser fur at the base, gradually tapering toward the tip. The eyes are amber, with sunken eye sockets, sharp and alert gaze. The nose is flesh-colored, blending with the coat, reddening when excited. The long, slender face appears well-defined in contour. The short, shiny but slightly coarse coat requires minimal grooming. The tips of the toes are white, and the feet are strong and powerful.
　　Shoulder height: males about 23~25 inches; females about 21~24 inches. Overall balance must be ensured. The body length (distance from the sternum to the pelvis) is slightly greater than shoulder height. The body is flexible.
　Head
　　Expression is alert. Eyes: amber, matching coat color, oval, set slightly deep, with sharp and intelligent gaze. Ears: medium height position, erect when alert but very flexible, base of ears wide, ears large and fine. Skull: long, inclined, and well-defined contour. Stop slightly defined. The length of the muzzle is slightly greater than the skull. Skull contour is parallel to the muzzle, head is a blunt wedge shape. Nose leather: flesh-colored, matching coat color without other colors. Bite: strong jaws, solid teeth, scissors bite.
　　Neck, Backline, Body
　　Neck: long, inclined, muscular, slightly arched, holding the head high. Throat line neat. Backline: almost straight, slightly sloping from the rump to the tail base. Body: flexible, chest depth nearly reaching the elbows. Ribs well supported. Moderately tucked up. Tail: set medium, base fairly thick, tip thin, whip-like, hanging at rest, extending to the hock. Tail is raised and curved when moving. Tail must not be clamped between the hind legs. A screw-shaped tail is a fault.
　　Forequarters
　　Shoulder blades: long and sloping backward. Solid but not heavy-shouldered. Elbows: properly angled. Forelegs: straight and parallel to each other. Pasterns solid. Dewclaws can be removed. Feet: neither cat feet nor hare feet, but very solid; joints well-developed and stable, neither turning inward nor outward. Paw pads thick.
　Hindquarters
　　Solid and muscular. Hind legs parallel to each other. Knee joints moderately angled back. The second thigh section clearly visible. Dewclaws can be removed; feet same as forelimbs.
　Coat
　　Short and shiny, ranging from fine and close-fitting to slightly coarse, without furnishings. Scars caused by accidents are not faults.
　Color
　　Allowed colors range from bright red to chestnut. Permitted white markings include a white tip on the tail, which is very desirable. White markings on the chest (called "star spots") are allowed. White feet or a white streak in the middle of the face are permitted.
　Gait
　　Extended and smooth; the head is held high, stride is considerable without any signs of effort. Legs and feet move in a straight line in the direction of travel. Paw flaring to the side or lifting legs too high (prancing step) are clear faults.
　Temperament
　　Intelligent, friendly, affectionate, and playful. Alert and active, very loyal and keen hunting dog with excellent vision and scent.
　　Disqualifications
　　Spots or other white markings are undesirable. Pure white patches on the back of the neck, shoulders, back, or parts of both sides of the body are disqualifications.
