Training the Scottish Shepherd dog to accept nail trimming should start from puppyhood, so the dog becomes familiar with and accepts nail trimming. This helps effectively avoid the dog's resistance to nail trimming as an adult and prevents trouble for owners in grooming tasks.

Generally, only about 1/3 of the nail, that is, the transparent part of the nail, should be trimmed. Also, the edges should be filed smooth to avoid injury.
