Is Calla Lily Harmful to the Human Body?
It is harmless to appreciate, but calla lily flowers contain large amounts of calcium oxalate crystals and alkaloids, which can cause coma and poisoning symptoms if ingested by mistake.
Plants not suitable for indoor placement:
1) Orchid: Its fragrance can overly excite people leading to insomnia.
2) Bauhinia: The pollen it emits, if in contact with people for too long, can trigger asthma or worsen coughing symptoms.
3) Mimosa: The alkaloid contained in it is a highly toxic organic compound; excessive contact can cause hair loss.
4) Rose: Its strong fragrance can cause some people to experience chest tightness, discomfort, suffocation, and difficulty breathing.
5) Lily: Its scent can also overstimulate the central nervous system causing insomnia.
6) Evening primrose (including lilac types): It releases a large number of particles that stimulate the sense of smell at night; prolonged exposure can cause dizziness, depression, discomfort in patients with hypertension and heart disease, and even worsen the condition.
7) Oleander: It can secrete a milky liquid, and prolonged contact can cause poisoning symptoms such as drowsiness and decreased intelligence.
8) Pine and cypress (including sweet olive, elderberry, etc.): The fragrance of pine and cypress type flowers irritates the human gastrointestinal tract, not only affecting appetite but also causing pregnant women to feel irritable.
