How to Use Ear Drops for Dogs
Bulldog
Dog ear drops not only help kill bacteria, repel parasites, reduce inflammation and itching, and remove odors, but also effectively prevent various ear diseases. However, many owners encounter various problems after buying ear drops, such as dogs not allowing owners to put the drops in, or dogs shaking their heads excessively after using the ear drops. To successfully apply ear drops to dogs, owners must pay attention to the following points.
1. Prepare properly
1. Cotton swabs, used to clean the dirt inside the dog's ear canal.
2. Choose ear drops specifically for dogs; human ear drops may not be effective for dogs.
2. Apply ear drops to the dog
The owner should secure the dog, then lift the ear and drop the ear drops into the dog's ear canal. To allow the drops to fully penetrate the ear canal, the owner can gently massage the base of the dog's ear for one minute. If the dog is allowed to move freely after the massage, it may shake its head and cause earwax to scatter everywhere. Therefore, it is best for the owner to clean the dog's ear canal with a cotton swab after massaging.
3. What to do if the dog keeps shaking its head after using ear drops
If the owner does not clean the ear drops properly from the dog's ear canal, the dog will feel uncomfortable and shake its head. Therefore, the owner must clean the ear canal before releasing the dog.
