How to Treat Dog Skin Diseases? This Depends on the Situation
If one day you suddenly find your dog in poor spirits and shedding heavily during a season when shedding should not occur, and its diet is completely fine and light, then we have to pay attention to whether the dog has a skin disease. The symptoms of skin diseases are not uniform, and the most important thing is to apply the correct treatment. Common dog skin diseases include allergies, eczema, folliculitis, peeling syndrome, alopecia, and various other skin conditions. How should these be treated?

Some dogs may be allergic to pollen. After an allergic reaction, they keep scratching their skin with their paws to relieve their discomfort, but this is very harmful to their body in the long run. Because scratched areas are prone to inflammation and can be infected by various bacteria. At this time, we need to take them to the veterinary hospital to first determine what the allergen is. If it is not clear, repeated contact in the future may cause the allergy to reoccur, so identifying the allergen is the best way to cure it. At the hospital, the doctor will prescribe corresponding treatment medications.

If it is a fungal skin infection, dog owners need to pay extra attention to care during this period. The main cause of fungal infections is that the dog’s damp fur was not completely dried. Other reasons include poor nutrition, leading to malnutrition; contact with other sick dogs while having wounds on the body; and so on. If infected, symptoms like hair loss and excessive dandruff accompanied by itching will easily appear. If the dog is infected, it must be treated promptly as fungal infections are contagious. Parasites like fleas and ticks cause skin diseases, easily leading to itching, hair loss, and even foul odors from scratches caused by the dog itself. Flea infestations are relatively mild; just take the dog to a veterinary hospital or pet store to buy an insecticidal shampoo for bathing, then spray insecticide on the dog.

If it is ticks, the problem is more troublesome. Once such parasites enter the body, never pull them off by hand; it is best to let a professional doctor handle it. The usual method is to apply some oil on the ticks; when they die, they can be pulled out, then medicine is applied to the affected area.
