How to Train Dogs Not to Fear the Veterinarian

German Shepherd
Dogs often have deep psychological shadows regarding veterinarians. In fact, owners can train their dogs not to be afraid of the vet, but some dogs that have already been "hurt" by veterinarians are more difficult to train, so veterinarians need to be especially careful when treating dogs.
First, we need to train them to get used to being on elevated places. The method is: gently hold your pet dog onto a table at home. Note, the tabletop should not be too slippery, otherwise slipping will increase their fear. Train a lot, let them slowly adapt, and don't forget to reward them.
Then, once they get used to staying on the table, pet owners can try to handle them like veterinarians and groomers do, by touching their ears, eyes, mouth, paws, etc.
When the pet dog is familiar with the owner’s handling, then have your friends try the above methods to handle it. At the beginning of this process, the owner needs to watch nearby to calm the pet dog's emotions. When the dog performs well, have your friends give some food rewards. Note: during training practice, actions must be gentle; if the dog strongly resists, do not force them to accept. (Source: PetsZone)
