How to Train a Puppy? The Effect of Food Temptation Is Obvious
How to train dogs? First, you need to keep the dog hungry so that you can use the temptation of food to train it. This is more effective than praise and calling out. When training dogs, usually a collar is worn, with one hand holding the food as a lure and the other holding the collar to train. Also, be clear about rewards and punishments. Once the dog reaches the desired level in training, you can reward it with some food, so it will listen to you even more in the future.
If you are training the dog to fetch things, you can hold the item to be fetched in one hand and wave it in front of the dog to spark interest. After the dog gets interested, throw the item—not too far, but within the dog’s sight. Then give the fetch command, and the dog will go to get it. After the dog fetches the item, issue the coming-back command. When the dog successfully returns, reward it. This makes it easier for the dog to fetch next time.
If you want the dog to learn to survive, you can try teaching it to play dead. Playing dead is actually easy for dogs. First, give it the lie down command, then try saying "sleep, sleep" to it, which it easily understands. When issuing the command, you can gently hold the dog’s body to help it lie down and try to keep the duration not too short. Then calmly stroke its back as if telling it it’s a good boy or girl, making it easier to obey you next time.
If you want the dog to learn to jump, first give the jump-up command, then you can jump yourself while giving the command, like a student following a teacher’s movements. Using your own action to train is a very good method. If the dog doesn’t understand or can’t see, you can use your hand to lift the dog up, making it easier to jump. If this still doesn’t work, don’t give up, as this action is much more difficult than other training.
