Some new dog owners may be confused about when to start training their dog, and when the dog is able to accept the training you give. Generally speaking, the earlier the training starts, the better, and the earlier the dog receives it, the better it accepts it. So how should you train a puppy? What kind of methods should be followed?

A puppy just arrived into this world is unfamiliar with this environment and everything here. You should try not to separate the puppy from the mother dog. Being with the mother dog can give it a lot of a sense of security, preventing it from being so panicked and helpless. Within the first month after the puppy is born, try to let it get familiar with the environment and the owner, gradually eliminating its fear.

In the first month after birth, puppies are full of curiosity about everything, showing no fear and wanting to try everything. By the second month, due to self-protection awareness, puppies may be less willing to touch the things they are curious about and may act timid. At this time, the owner should encourage the puppy to contact new things and slowly develop its interest in all new things, so that it will not develop a timid personality later.

Many people think that puppies are too young to be trained. Actually, it is not so. The younger they are trained, the easier it is for them to accept and remember the training. The younger they are, the easier it is to develop habits. When the dog gets older and forms some bad habits, those bad habits are harder to correct.

After the puppy is one month old, you can start some small training, without force or intention, training habits in play, and no strict requirements. You can gradually start training it to urinate and defecate at fixed spots. If the puppy develops this habit, you will save yourself a lot of trouble later. After weaning, you can give some dog food. During the weaning process, a small amount of softened dog food can be given. When it is completely weaned, you can train it to eat fixed portions at fixed times. Puppies should adhere to the principle of eating small meals frequently.

The puppy may not be able to be trained in many actions yet, basically just its behavioral habits. You can train the puppy to understand what is allowed and what is not allowed, letting it judge through your tone of voice. When it does things correctly, besides tangible rewards, your tone should be gentle, and when it does wrong, your tone should be strict. This way it learns to read expressions and tones from an early age.

Dog training should emphasize methods. If the right method is used, training becomes much easier. Even difficult-to-train dogs become easy to train with a good method.
