For thousands of years, dogs have survived by chasing and hunting other animals. Through breeding, humans have gradually softened this instinct, but certain breeds and individual dogs still retain it, which is a serious problem, especially for dog owners. However, dogs chasing other animals often don't realize they are crossing roads. When adrenaline rises, many chasing dogs may completely ignore your calls, easily falling into danger.
　　　　The training method is: unless your dog has lived with other animals from a young age, you should anticipate problems when it encounters livestock. The dog first stares at the sheep, but it is on a leash under the owner's control. Do not let the dog run off leash on farms (or other places with animals) unless you are sure it will not chase other animals. When your dog encounters other animals for the first time, you should take similar precautions.
　　　　The purpose of this exercise is to transform the dog's chasing instinct into controlled exercise. Experiment with different toys to find out which one your dog likes the most. Tease your dog with the toy.　　　　The training location should be quiet to avoid distractions and is best done outdoors. Use a long leash to control the dog, throw the toy it likes, but keep another favorite toy by your side.
It will instinctively chase the thrown toy.　　　　Between the dog touching the toy, call its name and command it to come. When recalling your dog, make exaggerated movements and wave the second toy to lure it back. Then play with your dog and reward it.　　　　Walk to where the toy is, pick it up, and leash the dog back. The dog will learn that the toy it chases belongs to you.
Repeat steps three to five in more stimulating environments.　　　　When your dog is trained not to chase the objects you choose, conduct retrieval training with pets present. Throw the toy in the opposite direction of other animals and encourage your dog to fetch it. In this way, you can quickly control its chasing instinct through retrieval training games.　　　　During training, when your dog stops chasing other animals and instead brings back the toy you throw, don't forget to reward your dog.
