How to Reduce Pomeranian Body Odor
Pomeranian (detailed introduction)

Generally speaking, the body odor of Pomeranians is relatively mild among all dog breeds, so many dog owners choose to raise Pomeranians.

However, after raising them, some Pomeranians still have a smelly odor. Actually, these odors are not from the dog’s body, but are emitted from the dog's bad breath and ears, which owners can avoid and reduce.

The dog’s bad breath is an important source of odor. It is necessary to check the problems caused by tartar on the dog's teeth. Therefore, owners should regularly brush the dog’s teeth and effectively control tartar, which can give the dog fresh breath.

The dog’s ears often emit abnormal smells. In fact, as long as owners clean earwax correctly, this situation can be reduced. Earwax helps ears fight external pathogens. Earwax colors can be white, light yellow, or yellow, and shapes range from powdery, lumpy to soft mud-like, all of which are normal. However, it must be cleaned regularly; otherwise, even normal ears can develop bad odors.

Anal glands are the most important source of dog odors. The anal glands help dogs recognize identity, because each dog's anal gland scent is different. So when dogs meet, besides greeting each other with kisses, they often smell each other's behinds. Moreover, wild dogs leave anal gland secretions on grass to mark their territory. But dogs living at home, due to less exercise and weaker leg muscles, cannot expel excess anal gland fluid, causing accumulation, blockage, and swelling. At this time, the anal glands will produce a bad smell, leading to inflammation, bleeding, or even rupture. Therefore, when bathing the dog, owners should also clean the anal glands to keep the dog healthy.

The standard Pomeranian body shape should be full of beauty and vitality, with a plump body and abundant fur. The temperament is gentle, walking energetically with a bright expression. The head is long in axle shape, with a flat skull.

The ears occupy a very small part of the head, and a short face is preferable. Eyes are sunken and oval-shaped, giving a small and elegant impression. The chest should not be too wide, and there should be a straight line from throat through chest to forelimbs. The base of the tail is slightly high, not too low, and the long thick decorative fur should be maintained in the middle of the back.

Generally, scissors are used to trim the whole body hair into a round shape. When trimming to maintain good body shape and neatness, comb the hair up first, then trim. The ear tips should be rounded. The tail base hair is clipped wide with an electric clipper so that the tail curls from the back to the ears. Nails should be cut short, and the long hair on the tips of the paws trimmed short to create a cat-paw appearance.

There are many dog grooming methods. Individuals can choose based on specific conditions, combined with the dog’s body shape characteristics, following the principles of enhancing strengths, masking weaknesses, and highlighting advantages. Please choose the appropriate grooming method to display your dog’s "dashing elegance," making your beloved dog more beautiful, healthy, and adorable!
