Since many friends do not pay attention to the birth age when buying or adopting a Teddy dog, they do not know exactly how old their Teddy is. So, is there any way to determine a Teddy’s age?

How to Determine the Age of a Teddy Dog
Teddy Dog (detailed introduction)

According to the growth and tooth development rules of Teddy dogs, normally, a Teddy dog begins to grow teeth at 3 weeks old. The puppy has 28 milk teeth. At one and a half months old, molars grow. At four months, the first incisors are replaced; at four and a half months, the second incisors; at five months, the third incisors; and at six months, the canine teeth are replaced. When the dog is seven months old, all 42 permanent teeth have fully grown, entering maturity.

The above is the approximate timeline for puppy tooth growth and replacement in Teddy dogs. As the dog grows, the more adult the Teddy becomes, the more severe the wear on the teeth. Roughly, at one and a half years old, the tip of the first lower incisor begins to wear; at two and a half years, the tip of the second lower incisor wears; at three and a half years, the tip of the first upper incisor wears; at four and a half years, the second upper incisor wears. At five years old, the first and second lower incisors have worn into a square shape; at six years, the canine teeth become blunt, and the tip of the third lower incisor wears; at seven years, the first lower incisor has worn down to the root; at eight years, the first lower incisor wears with a forward tilt; for Teddy dogs over ten years old, the tooth wear is particularly severe, and some Teddies that do not maintain oral care may also experience tooth loss.

Of course, besides judging age by the dog's teeth, you can also look at its physical changes to determine age. For example, the Teddy dog's expression, activity ability, adaptability, body, and coat. Young Teddies are lively with rich expressions, relatively immature activity, and delicate fur; adult Teddies are also very alert, sensitive, expressive, but their temperament is more stable with elastic and glossy fur; elderly Teddy dogs tend to become progressively quieter, less active, expressionless, with poor adaptability, and their hair turns white, becomes coarse and dull.

Through the above observations and judgments, you should be able to determine the approximate age stage of the Teddy dog. Of course, to know the exact birth date is still not possible. To know the Teddy dog’s birthday precisely, you need to know the exact date the puppy was born.
