To ensure that the Alaskan Malamute — Husky can grow healthily and happily, owners need to know certain things about its food, such as: how many times to feed per day? How much to feed at one meal? Because the Alaskan is a large pet dog with a sturdy body structure, supporting this “image” requires a foundation and “materials” — food. However, it cannot eat too much because the Alaskan’s digestive system is not very good and can easily have gastrointestinal problems.

The amount an Alaskan eats depends on its growth stage. From 2 to 4 months old, feed 2 to 4 times a day, making sure each meal is about 80% full; from 4 to 12 months, feed twice a day, also 80% full; after one year old, the feeding is more fixed, usually 1 to 2 meals a day depending on the situation. Young Alaskans from 2 to 6 months must not be fed too much and should follow the principle of small meals more frequently. Being a little hungry is okay, but eating too much will cause diarrhea.

Regarding the dog’s food content: from 2 to 4 months, it is generally dog food, soaked in warm water until soft before feeding. After four months, you can add an appropriate amount of vegetables and meat to the dog food. Vegetables like carrots and cabbage are good choices, but avoid feeding stimulating foods like onions, ginger, and garlic; meats should be lean beef, pork, chicken, etc. Fruits usually eaten can also be cut into suitable sizes for the dog.

Raising a dog is actually not that difficult; rational dog care does not bring much burden. For dog food prices, those with better finances can choose higher-quality products, while those with less can buy regular dog food. Extra meals depend entirely on the caretaker’s mood and capacity. The amount of food per meal for the dog should be prepared based on its size and does not require too much worry.

One important reminder: never put salt in the food prepared for the dog, and wait until the food is lukewarm before feeding. Food that is too cold or too hot can cause diarrhea.
