How to Raise a Bull Terrier Well
Bull Terrier (detailed introduction)
Regarding Bull Terriers, many people have mixed opinions about their appearance. Some feel their looks do not align well with our aesthetic views, so they are not particularly fond of this breed. However, others find their appearance quite unique and distinctive, thus they favor them. For owners, how to raise a Bull Terrier well is the most concerning question.
Although this breed originates from the UK, Bull Terriers do not like cold and damp climates; a warm and dry environment will make them very happy. However, one should note that white Bull Terriers should avoid excessive exposure to the scorching sun in summer to prevent skin burns. If kept outdoors, the doghouse should be raised above the ground to maintain dryness and resist pest invasion.
Dogs should develop a habit of being fed regularly from a young age. Puppies usually finish their food in the blink of an eye; otherwise, it should raise concerns—either the dog is ill or if the food is not finished within a certain time, the food bowl should be immediately taken away. However, do not discard the food; it can be put back at the next mealtime to help cultivate a habit of eating on schedule.
Because Bull Terriers are very energetic, their exercise requirements are greater than those of average dogs. Taking them outside twice daily for about 30 minutes of walking and some play is appropriate, and it’s best if they have regular opportunities to play freely. However, some Bull Terriers are shy by nature and reluctant to go out; in such cases, do not force them but let them adapt gradually.
Bull Terrier nails should be trimmed or filed regularly. If they often walk on hard surfaces, their nails will naturally wear down quickly and require less trimming. However, for nails that don’t contact the ground often, regular trimming is necessary. The Bull Terrier’s coat does not need special care; just use rubber gloves or brushes frequently to remove naturally shed dead hair. Usually, bathing once every two weeks is sufficient. When bathing, be sure to rinse off all shampoo thoroughly, as residue may cause skin allergies in Bull Terriers.
If you want to raise a Bull Terrier well, pay close attention to their diet, grooming, and training. Appropriate exercise helps keep the dog’s body strong, and feeding must be reasonable with consistent meal times and places.
