Five Things Pet Owners Must Not Do to Dogs
Although it is said that dogs are humans' best friends, they also have temperaments. No matter how good-natured a dog is, there are things that are taboo for them. If accidentally offended, they may attack. Therefore, some things are better not done to dogs. Today, PetsZone editor has summarized five things you should not do to dogs. Dog owners, come and take a look.
1. Suddenly Scaring Them
One reason dogs bite is because they get scared; this is an instinctive reaction. If a dog is sleeping or focused on something and you suddenly scare it, the dog will often be startled. Dogs do not like this kind of frightened behavior. In such cases, a dog bite is mostly a self-defense attack, thinking it is in danger.
2. Touching Their Wounds
If a dog is injured, it not only suffers physical pain but is also more alert to its surroundings than usual. If the owner unknowingly touches the dog's wound, the dog may bite. This is partly a reflex due to pain and partly a defensive attack thinking it is being deliberately harmed. Owners should pay close attention to their dogs' condition and consider the causes if they behave unusually. For injured dogs, owners must take extra care, provide appropriate nutrition, and feed high-protein natural food to help wounds heal quickly.
3. Bullying Their Puppies
Every mother loves and protects her children. Dogs are no different. If you bully a mother dog's puppies, as a mother, she definitely will not allow it to happen, and she will not let you off if you do.
4. Tightening Their “Neck”
We all know when going out, leashes must be fastened. But sometimes, whether the dog misbehaves or the owner is careless, the leash is tightened too much. Dogs feel the owner’s intent through the strap. Tightening it tightly makes them uneasy, possibly causing fear and aggressive behavior. Keeping the leash loose helps them feel safe and relaxed, allowing them to calm down.
5. Abusing Them
If a dog is abused long-term, it will undergo psychological changes; its personality may become sensitive and irritable, constantly alert and defensive toward surroundings. Abused dogs might eventually not endure the suffering and may retaliate against their owner. Such retaliation is usually very dangerous! Therefore, if you raise a dog, please do not abuse it. Treat it well, spend more time with it, and reward good behavior with treats like dried chicken, goat cheese, etc., to build a strong bond.
