Feeding Points for Golden Retrievers
Golden Retrievers are well-behaved children who are not picky eaters. They are obedient and well-mannered. Due to their relatively large size, their appetite is also comparatively big. For a large dog, a healthy diet needs to be strictly controlled. What can Golden Retrievers eat? What can they not eat?
Feeding Points
The best food for Golden Retrievers is dog food. Achieving a reasonable nutritional balance with homemade food is very difficult. Dog food is processed according to such nutritional ratios and is the best food for dogs. Additionally, if you feed your dog homemade food, be sure to cook it with very little salt. Excessive salt and raw food can harm the dog's health. If you cannot feed dog food and must feed homemade food, pay attention to ensuring balanced nutrition. Animal organs (Note: do not feed pork liver long-term as it can cause poisoning), meat, cornmeal, fish (Note: the fish's hard spines can get stuck, so it’s best to remove them), carrots, etc., can all be dog foods, cooked with almost no salt. Also, when feeding puppy dog food, mix it with a little warm water.
1. What Golden Retrievers Like to Eat
1. Golden Retrievers really like fruits because fruits are sweet, crisp, and juicy. Apples, pears, cherries, watermelon, and peaches can be given to Golden Retrievers in small amounts. Bananas are also okay, but consider if the Golden Retriever’s digestive system can handle them.
2. Golden Retrievers like dog food, which is their main staple. Sometimes you can add other things for them to eat, such as meat, vegetables, chicken liver, etc. Golden Retrievers also like these.
2. What Golden Retrievers Cannot Eat
1. Golden Retrievers always like to eat the food their owner is eating, but human food is not suitable for them. For example, Golden Retrievers cannot eat bread because the salt content is too high. If Golden Retrievers consume too much salt, their shiny golden fur will fade.
2. Seasonings like onions and garlic are also not suitable for Golden Retrievers. These foods are highly toxic to their blood. Eating too much can cause acute anemia and even threaten their lives.
3. Spicy seasonings with strong刺激 and pungent smells are presumably disliked by sensitive-nosed Golden Retrievers. Foods with too much mustard and chili can cause mouth and gastrointestinal ulcers in Golden Retrievers, so never feed them.
4. Chicken and duck bones should not be fed to Golden Retrievers. These bones are thin, sharp, hard to digest, and can scratch the dog’s gastrointestinal tract, causing bloody stools.
5. Do not feed milk to Golden Retrievers. Milk is hard to digest and can cause diarrhea.
6. The fruit Golden Retrievers must not eat first and foremost is grapes, which can cause kidney failure and even death. Also, cores of fruits like apples and pears are poisonous and must not be eaten.
3. What to Feed Golden Retrievers for Good Fur
To make the fur shiny and beautiful, feed the dog daily with protein-rich feed. Additives containing Vitamin E, Vitamin D, seaweed-based foods, vegetables such as lean meat, cooked egg yolks, plant oils, etc. Feed less food rich in sugar, salt, and starch.
4. Feeding Precautions for Senior Golden Retrievers
Most senior Golden Retrievers tend to get very fat due to reduced activity, so watch their portion size and feed more vitamin-rich foods. A cup of yogurt before bed can help digestion.
