Cocker Spaniel Hair Grooming Method
The hair of Cocker Spaniels is difficult to manage and requires the owner to be patient and continuously accumulate experience
Below I share my personal hair grooming methods.
1. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle matted fur. Be careful of the long and silky ear hair when grooming English Cocker Spaniels (detailed introduction).
2. Use a fine-tooth comb under the jaw, on the tail, and on the back side of the ears. Also, carefully trim the hair around the eyes, feet, and underneath the tail with rounded scissors or clippers.
3. Brush in the direction of hair growth. The hair grows from the head towards the back, and then from the back towards the feet.
4. Must remove loose hair from the head and back, including silk hair and wiry hair breeds. To protect your fingers, you can wear rubber gloves.
5. Sometimes a stripping knife or clippers are used. Additionally, depending on the situation, use pear-shaped scissors to trim the back hair before bathing.
6. When bathing, use a dry shampoo, then after showering sprinkle powder all over the body, and brush the powder into the back hair, leaving the head for last.
7. After brushing, dry the coat, then rub the hair with a silk or velvet cloth. Finally, use a special spray to make the coat glossy.
8. Finally, you can trim the nails depending on the dog's condition. Puppies can have their nails clipped at 2-3 weeks old to prevent scratching the mother's belly while nursing. Also, cultivating good habits from a young age helps them adapt naturally when grown.
