Characteristics of Teddy Dog Pregnancy
Teddy Dog (Detailed Introduction)

The pregnancy period for dogs differs from humans; they only need a little over two months to give birth to puppies. Therefore, after mating, we should always pay attention to their physical condition and understand what the characteristics of Teddy dog pregnancy are. This way, we can better determine whether the dog is pregnant and adjust the care accordingly.

The signs of pregnancy in female dogs appear about a week after mating. Specifically: the vulva of the pregnant female quickly contracts; after three to four weeks of pregnancy, symptoms such as vomiting and loss of appetite may occur. Between 20 and 30 days of pregnancy, the pregnant dog’s mammary glands become prominent, the breasts enlarge, and the nipples turn pinkish. At the fourth week after mating, by touching the uterus area on the female dog's abdomen, one can feel embryos about the size of a chicken egg in a pregnant female.

Nutrition during pregnancy is important for the female dog, playing a decisive role in the health of the mother, normal fetal development, prevention of miscarriage, and milk secretion. Pregnant female dogs should be fed foods with higher nutritional value, increasing protein, calories, calcium, and phosphorus in their diet. During pregnancy, dogs often become slow and lethargic. At this time, the owner must provide appropriate outdoor activities and allow the female dog to get plenty of sunshine. Running fast, jumping, going up and down stairs, or fighting with other dogs must be strictly prohibited to avoid miscarriage.

Symptoms of dog pregnancy are actually very similar to those in humans. Therefore, after noticing increased food intake and weight gain some time after mating, we should pay attention to whether the dog is pregnant. Later, it is best to take her to the hospital for a checkup to assess the condition of both the puppies and the mother. Special attention must be paid to the mother’s diet, ensuring food freshness and appropriately increasing the quantity. When caring for the dog, there must be no negligence so that the female dog can safely give birth to her puppies.
